It was founded in 1995 by like-minded pastoralist. As our people are from pastoralist communities, we know and understand pastoralism and its dynamics not from blue prints but from having lived the life. As a national body PC has advocated for Ethiopian pastoralists, to ensure their voices are included in decision making processes of the country and its development end- overs. The celebration of Ethiopian Pastoralist Day (EPD), the term ” Arbeto Ader” and formation of the parliamentary Standing Committee for pastoralist affairs are amongst the achievements of pastoralist advocacy in which PC has played a key role. PC has also initiated, conducted and supported research on pastoralism and livelihoods to inform the agendas of government and development agencies in Ethiopia.

During its tenure, PC’s development programs and humanitarian interventions have benefited thousands of pastoralists and agro-pastoralist communities. This have earned PC many different awards and recognitions of which two ‘best performance’ awards from Prime Ministers of Ethiopia is worth mentioning. PC have also being partnering with different stakeholders in the government sector, international & local non-government organization in the maximization of its efforts towards the development of pastoralist communities in a changing landscape. /br>
